My advise for a cool, chilled out, friendly local and expats bar is the ROOTS REGGAE BAR in Soi Nanai.
Less than a 5 min motorbike ride away from Jungceylon.
The music is fantastic and on Fridays everyone is jamming with the reggae live band!
If you want fresh cool beer, than this is the place to go to.
Boy’s one of the most amazing artisans that I’ve met so far. He makes gorgeous leather bags with stones and a hippie chic design. So lovely and powerful that you won’t be able to leave without buying something he made, probably right there, right in front of you, while you sip on a shot of Cheng Chun or 2 kindly brought to you by Bob, the charming friendly smiley face you see first when you arrive at there.
In fact, you’ll have the feeling of going to your friends’ house for drinks, so don’t forget to leave your shoes outside, Ka!
It’s where you go to meet locals and expats, all together, and get a good glimpse of what life in Phuket is all about. Lucky Thais always have a nickname! Short and easy to pronounce. So even if you get a bit carried away on sang som’s, you’ll probably remember it the next day! My Thai name is VeeWe, what’s yours?
